Bellevue Grand Connection: I-405 Crossing – Downtown to Eastrail
23 July 2024

Cooper Robertson is proud to lead the zoning and land use assessment for a key part of one of the most complex major pedestrian corridor initiatives in the country, the Bellevue Grand Connection. This project, the Bellevue Grand Connection I-405 Crossing – Downtown to Eastrail project, also referred to as the Grand Connection Crossing, is part of a series of key implementation projects. The overall program will transform the 1.5 miles between Meydenbauer Bay and Eastrail into a public-focused space where people who live, work, and play in Bellevue can walk, roll, relax, gather, eat, and shop.

This project is the next phase of the program, helping to establish a new signature pedestrian-focused crossing to improve access to Bellevue neighborhoods, local trails, and regional transportation options. The crossing will also be compatible with and integrated into a future lid park over I-405, enabling more opportunities for events and recreation. The future lid park will be addressed in a later phase of the Grand Connection program.

As leading experts in city planning with an established history in supporting signature pedestrian initiatives across the country from Hudson Yards and “The Park” as MGM Las Vegas, coupled with local experience in the Pacific Northwest, Cooper Robertson is providing critical zoning and land use assessment support for sites within and adjacent to the Grand Connection Crossing. The results of the assessment will be used to inform future urban design and land use decisions, complementing the development of the crossing.
