As a national leader in urban design, Cooper Robertson has been actively involved in devising zoning strategy and policy, first as government officials and then in the firm’s own work. We’ve designed zoning measures as an underpinning of effective city-making across the country on behalf of developers, government, corporate and institutional clients. The 100th anniversary of New York’s 1916 zoning code, the first in the country, has caused us all to think more deeply about what zoning’s proper place should be in fostering good design and good planning policy.
