Cooper, Robertson won a national competition to prepare a master plan for a peninsula across the river from Charleston. This empty land provided the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create the sort of suburb Charleston never had complete with traditional public buildings, houses, and neighborhoods, open views, and waterfront access.
