Providing a new station stop will reduce the number of workers and residents arriving by car, while establishing links under the rail line and to the surrounding neighborhoods will help sustain new uses throughout the site. Two weeks after the City of San Mateo Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the plan, the San Mateo City Council officially approved it on April 21, 2008.
