Riverton
Cooper Robertson was hired by North American Properties to create a vison and craft a Master Plan for Riverton, a new waterfront development in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It is a $2.5 billion ground-up community along the Raritan River, less than 20 miles away from Manhattan.
Riverton covers a 418-acre site with almost two miles of shoreline on the Raritan River. The program includes a fully walkable city layout with over two-million square feet of retail, multi-family residential and live-work apartment buildings, class A office spaces, hotel, and a 200 slip marina. Additionally, planned civic services include a fire station, performing arts venue, and a neighborhood services building.
The Riverton peninsula has ready-made access to and from major vehicular arteries like the Garden State Parkway, Interstate Routes 1 and 9, and Interstate Route 35, with over 372,500 vehicles per day travelling past the site. Additionally, public transportation hubs are within a short drive that connect the community to New York and Philadelphia as well as Boston and Washington, DC. A ferry terminal in Perth Amboy, NJ is underway, just a few miles north of Riverton, which will provide boat service to Lower Manhattan and the Financial District.
Once completed, Riverton will be the largest mixed-use development in New Jersey’s history.
