WindMark Beach gets first “Wildlife Friendly” Certificate in Florida.
WindMark Beach might look like any other well-laid-out and aesthetically pleasing Florida development but the coastal residential community of 1,660 homes on St. Joe Bay is different in one big way: it carries a "Wildlife Friendly" certification, the first in Florida. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service bestowed the first “Wildlife Friendly" certificate in Florida to WindMark Beach. Not only does the plan preserve the dunes and wetlands with floating boardwalks, outdoor lighting has been carefully designed not to disturb nesting sea turtles and other wildlife that mostly come out at night.

Zuccotti Park received
an Armerican Institute of Architects 2008 Honor Award in Regional
and Urban Design. The Jury commented that "The transformation
of this urban site recognizes the path of pedestrian traffic and
works with the natural transition of scenes through Lower Manhattan.
Its strength is in simplicity. The plan provides a shift in the
urban grid and introduces light panels, which together transforms
this space from just another point within the city to a place
of its own. You aren’t inclined to walk around the edges; you
want to go through it, both during the day and at night." http://www.aia.org/SiteObjects/files/Zuccotti%20Park.pdf
